Dr Narme Deva

Dr Narme Deva is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with subspecialty interest in Medical Retina, Uveitis and Cataract surgery. She graduated from Auckland Medical School in 2002 and undertook her vocational Ophthalmology training within Auckland. She has also been awarded a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Auckland for research into the modulation of wound healing and inflammation in the eye. Following the completion of her training, she spent two years at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Here, her time was devoted to gaining excellence in the management of both common and complex retinal conditions. She completed her time at Moorfields, with a dedicated Cataract Surgery Fellowship, focusing on the management of cataracts in the context of retinal conditions. She has presented at national and international conferences and her work has been published in prestigious peer-reviewed Ophthalmology journals.
Dr Deva holds a Consultant post at Auckland Hospital and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland. She is actively involved in training the next generation of Ophthalmologists and co-supervises the Medical Retina Fellowship in Auckland.
Outside of work, Narme is a well known Indian classical dancer. She is married to her Medical School sweetheart and they have two adventurous daughters and one overactive dog.
