Dr Narme Deva is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with subspecialty interest in Medical Retina, Uveitis and Cataract surgery. She graduated from Auckland Medical School and undertook her vocational Ophthalmology training within Auckland. She has also been awarded a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Auckland for research into the modulation of wound healing and inflammation in the eye. Following the completion of her training, she spent two years at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Here, her time was devoted to gaining excellence in the management of both common and complex retinal and uveitic conditions. She completed her time at Moorfields, with a dedicated Cataract Surgery Fellowship, focusing on the management of cataracts in the context of retinal conditions. She has presented at national and international conferences and her work has been published in prestigious peer-reviewed Ophthalmology journals. She also holds a Consultant Ophthalmologist post at Greenlane Eye Clinic, Auckland District Health Board and provides regular teaching for Optometrists and trainee Ophthalmologists. She is actively involved in several international clinical trials in retinal disease management.
